Community Outreach

At Pine Medical Center and Pine Medical Health Care Center, we are part of our community and the people of our community are part of us.

For the community, we offer events such as:

  • Annual flu shot clinics at local banks and credit unions
  • Free annual prostate and mammogram screening at Gateway Clinic in Sandstone (with the generous help of the local Lions Club)
  • Monthly blood pressure screenings at senior dining centers, banks and senior assisted living apartments
  • Monthly diabetes support group
  • Blood pressure and blood glucose screening at local health fairs.

Our Women's Auxiliary and other volunteers come to our hospital and Health Care Center to visit patients and residents, lead activities and raise money.

Our Health Care Center has many events each year that involve our residents and the community. Here's a sampling:

  • Special events during Hospital and Nursing Home Week each May.
  • Our June parade of bridal fashions.
  • The annual Quarry Days Parade, which starts in front of our Health Care Center in August so residents can see the parade – and catch some candy.
  • Children come trick-or-treating on Halloween night.
  • Church groups come caroling at holiday time.

Several area churches have weekly services at the Health Care Center. Bake sales, book fairs and luminaria sales sponsored by local groups raise funds for the facility. And we conclude each week with a live music event that draws family and friends as well as our residents.
