Emergency Care
It's 2 a.m. and you have a crushing pain in your chest. If you live within a 40-mile radius of Sandstone, the closest emergency room is at Pine Medical Center, where a physician is on duty 24 hours a day. The best thing you can do is call Pine County Ambulance Service, which has three nearby locations, and you'll be at the hospital in a matter of minutes.
Our highly trained staff knows precisely how to treat you and, if necessary, how to get you to the appropriate specialty hospital as quickly as possible. With helicopter transport services, you can be at one of the state's top cardiac centers within minutes.
Pine Medical Center has received a Level IV trauma designation from the Minnesota Department of Health's Statewide Trauma System. PMC is one of only a few hopsitals in the area to have this important designation. We had to demonstrate that our emergency department had certain equipment and that our physicians and staff met necessary education requirements.
The majority of our Emergency Room physicians are certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in Emergency Medicine. Our ER nurses are required to be certified in advanced life support for adults and children as well as trauma nursing. Together, they create a life-saving team close to home.
